Notes: I teach according to the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules and have been playing for 25+ years, teaching for 15+, and have both conducted and participated in tournaments. It is great sharing this fantastic game with others. For those competent in the 4-player game I can teach you the 2-handed Siamese version. I teach small groups in my home or yours. Flexible fee.

Notes: Like many players I learned Mahjong from my mom and I started playing I was hooked! After reading everything I could get my hands on and playing when ever I got the chance, I decided to become a teacher. There's a new Mahjong movement happening and I’m thrilled to be a part of it! It’s a learnable, fun, and strategic game with many layers that you’ll continue to learn as you play. You can learn the basics and be playing within a few hours. Of course beyond that it helps to have more practice through online, guided, and group play. The more you play the more you’ll improve. As much as I love Mahjong, what I love most are the people I’ve met a long the way and the friends around the table.

Notes: Mona is an avid mah jongg enthusiast who approaches learning the game with both dedication and joy. She continually deepens her understanding by studying strategies, practicing regularly, and sharing her love of mah jongg with others. Based in northwest New Mexico near the Four Corners, Mona is committed to growing the local mah jongg community by creating more opportunities for open play and beginner-friendly learning. She especially enjoys introducing new players to the fundamentals of the game under National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules and guiding them through structured, hands-on sessions that build confidence through practice and fun. Teaching alongside two fellow instructors, Mona welcomes large groups with ease—turning every class into an engaging, laughter-filled experience. For Mona, mah jongg is more than a pastime; it’s a source of joy, growth, and meaningful connection that brings people together—one tile at a time.
